Year 5 News
Year 5 have been fully immersed in their English unit this term, focusing on writing their very own survival guides. The children have showcased fantastic creativity and imagination, coming up with inventive and practical advice for surviving on a desert island. From how to find fresh water to building shelters and avoiding dangerous animals, their guides were filled with useful tips and original ideas. It’s been wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic the pupils have been, using descriptive language and persuasive techniques to make their guides both informative and entertaining.
In the wider curriculum, Year 5 have been exploring Geography by learning about a variety of countries around the world. They have been comparing different cultures, climates, landscapes, and key features that make each country unique. This global exploration is helping to develop their understanding of the world and is also serving as inspiration for a creative project- designing and building their own 3D maps of a country of their choice. The students are looking forward to bringing their research to life through this hands-on activity.
