Safeguarding

Hammond Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place which we refer to in our prospectus. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the Policy on request. Our policy and practice is in line with, and supports, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. A link to a copy of this document can be accessed at the bottom of this page.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

What to do if you are concerned...

If you feel a child is in immediate danger please call 999.

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare and it is not an emergency, please record your concern, and any observations or conversation heard. Please report your concern as soon as possible.

You can report concerns to:

• Surrey Emergency Duty Team - 01483 517898 or edt.ssd@surreycc.gov.uk between 5pm and 6am Monday-Friday, 24hrs at weekends and over Bank Holiday Periods.

If you have a concern about a child at our school, then you can contact the Safeguarding Team at Hammond Junior School- at dsl@hammondjuniorschool.org or on 01276 473972.

If your concerns relate to a member of school staff, please request to speck to a member of the safeguarding team. They will record your concerns and refer the matter to the Executive Headteacher of Chair of Governors.
