Pupils will study Spanish throughout their time at Hammond. In line with the government’s aims set out in the Languages Programme of Study (National Curriculum England), this approach will enable pupils to make substantial progress in one language, applying the language skills and knowledge acquired to the study of further languages.

Pupils will develop their knowledge and understanding of the phonology, grammatical structures and vocabulary of Spanish and be able to make comparisons between the languages’ similarities and differences with English. The transferable language skills that the pupils develop will provide them with a foundation for learning further languages at KS3 and beyond.
