Covid-19

From Thursday 3rd September 2020 our school has been fully open to pupils.

We take our responsibility for implementing controls to reduce the spread of coronoavirus very seriously.

Reducing the risk of transmission in our school

We have completed a full risk assessment and have put into place a number of controls to help reduce the risk of transmission in our school.

These measures include:

  • year group bubbles
  • designated seating for pupils
  • additional hand sanitising and hand washing facilities
  • designated isolation room
  • reduced movement around the school building
  • thorough cleaning of the school building and resources
  • staggered start and finish times
  • cessation of gatherings of pupils across bubbles
  • one way entry / exit to lunch hall
  • modified seating arrangements in class
  • allocated toilet facilities for bubbles
  • allocated hand washing facilities for bubble
  • signage promoting social distancing
  • reduced number of visitors onto school site

We have fully considered and implemented the guidance from the Department for Education: guidance for full school opening, Public Health England Covid-19 Early Outbreak Management, Gov.uk: Covid-19 cleaning of non-healthcare settings outside the home and Gov.uk: Safe working in education, childcare and children's social care. We continue to keep up to date with the latest government guidance and will implement this as it is received.

Recognising the symptoms of coronavirus

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.

For clinical  advice you can contact the NHS 111 Covid 19 website at https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/

Advice for parents

Please see our 'information regarding a suspected or confirmed Covid-19 case in the school community' document located at the bottom of this page.

What if my child is unwell?

If your child is showing any 1 of the main symptoms of coronavirus.

A high temperature – this means they feel hot to touch on their chest or back, a new, continuous cough or a  loss of, or change in, their normal sense of smell or taste

Do not send your child to school and do not come to school yourself, nor send anyone from your household

Your child can return to school when the test result for your child comes back negative and no one in the household has symptoms.

What if another member of the household has symptoms of coronavirus?

If a member of your household displays any of the main symptoms of coronavirus, all other household members need to stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days.

Staggered Drop off and Collection Times

We have implemented staggered start and finish times for different year groups to enable social distancing and reduce the numbers of people needing to access the school at key times. We ask that all members of the community adhere to social distancing while dropping off or collecting pupils.

We ask families to adhere to their allotted time slot wherever possible to ease congestion.

We are able to offer a degree of flexibility within these times and the gates will be open from 8.30am. Pupils can enter and exit the school site from the Front and Mount Pleasant gates and this should be arranged directly with your child.
