New Intake 2021

The following letter has been posted to all new admissions 2021.

Thank you for choosing Hammond School for your child’s Key Stage 2 education. We very much look forward to welcoming your family to join ours from September.

I am pleased to introduce myself as the Executive Headteacher for the Federation of Lightwater Schools, and I am delighted that your child will be joining Hammond School and will be able to benefit from all the wonderful opportunities we have to offer.

We aim to do everything we can to ensure a smooth transition from Infant to Junior school for both you and your child. Our induction programme commences with a transition day on WEDNESDAY 30th JUNE from 9:30am. We ask that only one parent accompanies their child and he/she needs to be dropped off into the school hall via the main reception. Members of Y3 staff and SLT will be on-hand to greet the children and answer any questions you may have. Parents will then exit the school via the rear hall doors so we have a safe one-way system.

Children will then need to be collected from 2:00pm from the school hall rear doors and again staff will be available for any queries and we will ask you to exit the school via the main reception. Please adhere to the one parent rule for collection.

Under the current circumstances, we are unable to offer an in-school meeting for parents, we have however, provided you with as much information as possible in this pack and we have developed a dedicated page on our website to keep you updated (please click on ‘Class Pages’ and then into ‘New Intake 2021’). We will be posting a video in June from both myself and the Year 3 team, where we will go through all of the information you will need for September and we will be offering an opportunity for brief school tours which can be signed up for at drop-off on the transition day in June.

Enclosed with this letter are a number of forms that need completing prior to entry to allow us to involve your child in the full life of the school from the outset. May we draw your attention especially to the Home-School Agreement which is key to helping us work in partnership with families and which emphasises our values and expectations of all. Also enclosed is further information regarding our before and after school care, parent communication and term dates. Please complete and return all the appropriate forms to the school office by Friday 4th June 2021.

On behalf of the children, Governors and staff may we welcome all our new families and wish you a fulfilling and happy future relationship with the school.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Lee Parsons

Executive Headteacher
