What do Hammond Junior pupils think about our school?

Take the chance to find out more during our open mornings on June 26 and 27 from 10.30am to 11.30am.

Pupils are enthusiastic about their school and speak excitedly about the wide range of activities they are involved in.

They are particularly keen to  explain the ‘expanding horizons’ initiative which gives them the chance to study a range of subjects which are outside the curriculum.

Whether they want to study aboriginal art or become a film critic, there are plenty of options to choose from and our pupils appreciate the responsibility they are given.

“I was met in every classroom by a pupil who has responsibility to meet and greet visitors. These pupils spoke confidently about learning and were keen to show me their work,” said a visitor from Ofsted.

Our pupils say they feel safe in our school and also talk knowledgeably about a range of issues including internet safety. Attendance is above the national average, according to Ofsted.

Pupils who have special educational needs or disabilities are carefully monitored and weekly yoga and mindfulness lessons help with wellbeing. Our pupils said they quite often use the breathing exercises they learned to help them feel ‘calm inside’.
