05.03.20 World Book Day

10.03.20 -13.01.20- Science Week

Our Topic this term is Ice, Ice Baby!'

This topic will focus around our class guided reading book ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’. In Geography we will be looking at Alaska and exploring the human and physical features of the extraordinary state. In Science we will be looking at how animals adapt to different environments.

Our PE days will be Wednesday and Thursday, with occasional PE enrichments on a Friday morning. On Tuesdays and Thursdays children will take part in a whole school sporting activity (Golden Mile and Spaghetti Shake) and they have the opportunity to go on the field at lunchtime on Mondays and Thursdays. Therefore, it is important that children have their PE kits in school for the whole week.

During the academic year your child will have homework each week.  This is intended to help them consolidate the learning that takes place during lesson time.  It is important that you allow your children time at home to complete these tasks and where you can, talk to your child to ensure they understand the importance of them.

Homework will be handed out every Friday and taken in the following Friday. Spellings will be set weekly and tested on a Friday. However, the whole half term overview can be found on the spelling sheets page.

All children have the opportunity to take a reading book home so please ensure that your child reads as much as they can.  One way of ensuring this, is to get your child to read aloud to you at home as much as possible. There is a list of suggested questions which can help with developing comprehension skills and this can be found on the English page.
