About Our School

Hammond School is a high achieving and successful community school serving the community of Lightwater and the surrounding villages. The school is vibrant and interesting with staff striving to achieve the best learning environment to meet the needs of every individual child. The staff are dedicated, supportive, patient and caring: providing a structure that enables children to feel safe, motivated and appropriately challenged. The children are purposefully engaged in learning; focused on listening; discussing ideas; gaining first hand experiences; asking questions; researching information; testing hypotheses and so much more. Hammond School values the support of families in supporting the development of the whole child and its ethos is to know all the pupils individually, both academically and socially.

Hammond School is part of the Federation of Lightwater Schools working alongside Lightwater Village School. This and our collaboration with other infant schools and partnerships enable us to learn from each other, increase our capacity and build on already good practice to improve learning and teaching.

Each year group has three mixed ability and mixed gender classes and the year group teaching team work in close proximity to each other ensuring a sense of belonging and common practice.

Over the four years at Hammond School we aim to give children every opportunity to achieve their academic potential and develop socially ready to move onto the next stage of their education.
