Pupil Parliament

Last term, the Pupil Parliament were elected and settled into their new roles. They listened to their peers and communicated that pupils thoroughly enjoyed the 'Toast shop' which was introduced last year.  Therefore, it was unanimously decided it HAD to return this year.

Throughout the second half of Autumn term, we managed to raise an amazing £161.50 for WaterAid- a charity selected by those within the parliament. We received a certificate and information about what our contribution helped install a tapstand in Tombohaun, bringing a reliable source of clean water to a village.

Once again, we could not have made this contribution without your support- Thank you!

This term, we have held discussions within our classes to encourage pupil voice and decide what we want to improve / change about the school. After reviewing the feedback, one thing was clear. EVERYONE LOVES TOAST SHOP! Also, more equipment for break times was frequently mentioned. Therefore, we have decided to raise money in order to make these changes.

We are excited to announce that "The Hammond Toast Shop" is returning for the second half of Spring term. From the week beginning 24th February, The Hammond Toast Shop will return! Pupil Parliament members will provide an opportunity for each year group to purchase a slice of toast as a different and healthy snack biweekly.

Please see below the timetable and dates for each year group for the next half term.

Year group Day Date
5 Tuesday 25th February, 10th March, 24th March
3 Thursday 27th February, 12th March, 26th March
6 Tuesday 3rd March, 17th March, 31st March
4 Thursday 5th March, 19th March, 2nd April

Like last term, each slice of buttered toast will cost 20p, with additional toppings, such as marmite, jam and honey, incurring an extra charge of 10p.

Any donations of unopened condiments, (including: jam, marmite, or honey) butter spreads or bread would be most welcome. Please note, due to severe nut allergies amongst the pupils and staff, we remain a nut free school and will not be able to accept or offer nut butters of any kind. Furthermore, chocolate spreads cannot be accepted for the same reason and we thank you for your understanding in this matter. Donations can be given to Miss Cunningham in 5EC.

Thank you to the HSA (Hammond School Association) for kindly agreeing to fund the Toast shop again and thank you for your continued support.
